Gamja jorim is another delicious Korean side dish (banchan) which is appealing for its sweet taste and ease of cooking. It can either be made a little sweeter or spicier (with gochugaru) so that it appeals to both kids and adults alike, not to mention foreigners as well.
To prepare and make this side dish, potatoes are simply cut into bite-sized cubes then sautéed/glazed with soy sauce, minced garlic, and corn syrup. Some may find or add roasted sesame seeds mixed in for additional texture as well as taste. Further, bite-sized vegetables such as onions, carrots and/or broccolis may be sautéed altogether to compliment the potato. Gamja jorim is a popular side dish found at Korean restaurants or even in kids' lunch boxes for its quick and simplicity in cooking.
